Beginners Course Last Month

Last months beginners SLR course at Castletown Heritage Centre was a big success, with folk travelling from Inverness and the Black Isle to join the local attendees for a day full of learning. Everyone went away with a good understanding of how their camera worked and (hopefully) all are now off the automatic mode! We covered exposure in great depth, as well as how the camera actually works, and went into all the settings on the camera and what they do. We looked at different methods to get different results using depth of field and exposure compensation. I am hoping to run this course again very soon, so keep in touch if you are interested in attending!

Highland Wedding Workshop

Get away from the hectic city life for 3 days of photographic workshop in the far North Highlands of Scotland. We will shoot at castles, ruins and in beautiful rugged scenery using various lighting set ups and techniques. You will get a chance to shoot in the amazing locations we are blessed with up here, with big moody skies and dramatic backdrops. The workshop will be 3 full days, and will include advice on shooting with available light, off camera flash and video light, as well as posing the bride and groom for natural images. We will also spend some time working on getting the very best from your images post-shoot with your editing. We will cover making the most of limited time. Shooting in difficult locations. Working with the weather. Post wedding shoots and much much more!

You'll go home relaxed and full of inspiration and knowledge to take your wedding photography onto another level.

If you are interested let me know ASAP. I am aiming for 16th-19th November. The cost of this workshop is £650 which will include B&B and evening meal for 3 nights, transfer to and from Inverness or Wick airport (or train stations), a day trip to the Orkney Isles, and 3 days of training at some amazing locations. Cost of course only (no accomodation/meals) is £500. The plan would be for folk to arrive at various times on Monday and leave late Thursday, although if anyone needs to stay an extra night that won't be difficult to fix up. We'll be based up in Caithness, not far from Thurso (google maps will show you how far North it is!).
